The company offers a variety of options for installing its products, including in-ground, surface mount, and recessed plate mounting. Each option requires different anchor bolts and plates that add additional costs. It is also important to note that a hip roof shade is not a part of the park’s other equipment, so the cost of this additional feature will vary.
When considering roof and shade placement, consider the climate. In hotter climates, buildings with overhangs on their eaves should use overhangs of at least 50%. In colder climates, a lower percentage of eave overhangs may be required. If the climate in your region is relatively cool, consider a pergola or other vertical structures to provide shade.
For west and east-facing openings, the approach must be different. These openings are exposed to low-angle morning and afternoon sun, which is difficult to shade. For this reason, the area of glazing on the west and east sides should be limited or used. The most optimal solution would be an adjustable vertical shading system. Deep verandas, balconies, and pergolas would be excellent options for shading east and west-facing facades. In addition, they can be designed with plantings to help filter unwanted sunlight.
North-facing eaves would allow more glass to receive the winter sun while shading larger portions during the summer. Alternatively, the horizontal projection of metal louvres would shade lower glazing. This approach would also prevent all sunlight from entering the building between spring and autumn equinoxes. Depending on your climate, you can use the 45% rule of thumb for eave width to fine-tune passive shading.
